Nummular eczematous dermatitis, also known as either nummular dermatitis or nummular eczema is not the same as the condition atopic eczema. Nummular eczema is a more stubborn rash that leaves patches that are shaped like coins on the skin. The lesions of nummular eczema, when they get older, can become clear in the center, or they can get scaly and look like psoriasis or ring worm. Nummular eczema is a chronic condition, and goes through periods of getting better or worse.
